Primary course units covered and learning outcomes

IBT101 - Disabilities

This until will give you an overview of disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Intellectual Disabilities, Down Syndrome, and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Students will gain an understanding of disabilities, and also the perspective to integrate strengths when working with clients.

IBT102 - Behavioural Basics

This unit will give you an introduction to fundamental components involved in ABA. For example, basic concepts distinguishing between respondent and operant behaviour, and how basic environmental conditioning processes influence each type of behaviour.

Students will gain an understanding of core concepts and principles of behavior analysis, including reinforcement, punishment, extinction, motivation operation, and discriminative stimulus.

IBT103 – Data Collection

This unit will give you an overview of behaviour measurement, and various data collection methods.

Students will learn to use data collection methods to inform the selection of treatment goals, and to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.

IBT104 - Assistance in Assessment Procedures

This unit will focus on how to assist in assessments, such as Preference Assessments, Functional Behavioral Assessment, and Language and Functional Skills Assessments.

Students will learn to assist in conducting behaviour assessment to determine reinforcers, functions of behaviors, and learning goals.

IBT105 – Teaching Skills

This unit will introduce fundamental evidence-based behaviour techniques, such as discrete trial teaching (DTT), natural environment teaching (NET), and promoting.

Students will learn to learn to follow teaching protocols and plans to implement various teaching methods to meet learner goals.

IBT106 – Challenging Behaviours

This unit will give you an overview on commonly used behavioral interventions, such as antecedent modification and differential reinforcement, to decrease behaviours of concern.

Students will learn working knowledge to use behaviour techniques to decrease behaviors of concerns.

IBT107 – Professionalism

This unit will give you an introduction to ethical and professional considerations within the context of ABA, with a focus on IBAO Ethical Guidelines.

Students will gain an overview of professional consideration within the context of ABA, such as the role of the IBT, confidentiality/privacy, supervisor relations.
